Yeehaa Horse Trail rides

Bells and I spoiled ourselves and went for a horse trail ride amongst the Kimberley wilderness.  It was just amazing.  Chris Thomas - the owner/operator was  the sort of man EVERY horse trail ride should be run by.  His dedication and love he showed to his horses was admirable.  Not once did he kick or curse his horses.  He didn't pull hard on their mouths or show any hostility or anger towards his most beloved friends.   It was a pleasure to discover it would be just us for the ride aswell - good news for Bells who was feeling a little uncertain at being plopped on a horse with no real guidance.

Much to Bellas surprise there was no hesitation by Chris to pop Bells on her horse, called Bella by sheer coincidence, and off we went.  There was a short instruction on a few basic riding rules then out into the bush we went.

We rode through the Kimberley bush and alongside the rock formation named 'Sleeping Buddha'.  By the time we started the ride the sun had begun to set.....another special moment.

Chris (who knows our neighbours from Phillip Island - Gary and Elaine Ferteis - ex Kununurran's) assured us that 'Bella' was the perfect horse for Bells.  'Just beautiful with kids' he says.  Well 'Bella' must have been having an off day because she was in a foul mood.  Ears back and nipping at my horse and Bells if she tried to get her to trot. She took off on poor Bells at one point and bypassed Chris on his horse then abruptly stopped - Bells the Limpet, was out of the saddle but held on the whole way until Chris kindly told her that she could release her leg and arm lock on 'Bella's neck and step down to the ground.  Still slightly shaken but assured by Chris's confidence got straight back on and continued riding.  'Bella' continued to be 'sour' and tried to bite or kick 'Mia' by horse at any opportunity she got.
Lovely 'Mia' and I.  She was such a gentle mare.

Still a most magical (and nerve testing) experience for Bells and myself.  Something we will both remember for ever.
