Whyndam - 30th of June
Haven't mentioned the names of our newfound friends yet but in Timber Creek we met the Sharps. The kids buddied up with Jacinta and Hughie - perfect match in imaginations and spirits. Gavin and Janet (Mum and Dad) are good folk too. So we have been intermittently travelling together, Zebra Rock and now Kununurra. The kids spend hours playing together - the boys lost in Star Wars worlds and the girls - sewing land.
Together with the Sharps four wheel drive and our Big Betty we made our way to Parrys Lagoon near Whyndam.
Parry's Lagoon was a wonderland of Small, Intermediate and Giant Egrets, Cormorants - Pied and Black, Green Pygmy Geese, Comb Crested Jacana's, Pied Herons, Brolgas and the list goes on......
The feature attraction in the main street of Whyndam is the BIG CONCRETE CROC.

The two old men hanging outside the museum....
Whyndam used to be a thriving 'top town of the West' supported by the meatworks....these trains are all that remain today. Hughie and Toli captained them.
Took the kids about 15 minutes to zone in on the tiny pup at the Whyndam hotel. The local brew....Emu Bitter and Emu Export were two of the largers we sampled - Emu Bitter was better.
As listed on the tourist map we visited the 'largest boab in captivity'. Apparently when the lower branches get even with the ground the tree is 800-1000 years old!
An almost sunset look out over the five rivers lookout....a 360 degree view! Toli and Hughie played a constant game of warfare over the cliff.
The Warriu Dreamtime sculptures.....such a shame that they have been vandalised. They were huge and held such a presence in the landscape.
Last stop on our Whyndam excursion was 'The Grotto'....running a bit late in the day to spend much time here before sunset. We managed a quick look and associated 'oohs and ahhhs'.
