More Litchfield pics..

Back on track now with the new camper.  The kids have named her Betty- licence plate 615 RMK...Bells thinks it should read - Really Miraculous Komeback...explaining also that she knows the K should be a C...but says it just fits....I agree.  Thought I would share a few more pics of the magic that is Litchfield National Park...and our holiday!

Mmmmm fresh mud crab from a new friend...everybody is so friendly and generous. It's ace!

The beautiful Wangi falls...currently unopened as there are still crocs in there.  Seems it is ok to swim with the fresh water crocodiles though.  Apparently they live in there all the time.....hmm, who would have thought?
Bells is already sick of me taking pictures.....she has a long road ahead of her!

The mandatory photo of the Magnetic Termite Mound.  They actually have a sign with a camera pictured on it....just in case you weren't sure whether to take a picture or not...hehe.

Toli being a cheeky monkey...it looks a lot worse of a drop then it was.  I'm a good parent, really I am!
Tolmer Falls.

Boy on log.
(Buley Rockpools again...love love it)

Cycads on the walk to Tolmer Falls

Happy Bells at Florence Falls

Such beauty in such dryness.  Kirsty could tell me the name of this one.....

And this one...I really should have an idea of the family at least....so out of touch!

So petite and little.  These little beauties had the kids REALLY looking at their environment.

Good thing too.....the kids good eyesight meant we did NOT walk through the web of this spectacular Golden Orb spider.  The male is a little spider that darts around the web and just plain annoys her....sometimes she has two or thee going at the same time...found that funny.

Lovely little tracks...worm or something I'm guessing.

Check out the size of these leaves next to Toli's hand.

Ummm....path

The name of this one is on the tip of my tongue...we have the relative of these little beauties at home.  This one is about the size of a 5 cent piece.

Kids underneath the waterfall - Florence.

So sad that these beauties are getting hammered by the unfortunately ugly Cane Toads.  Really is a sad move we made introducing the Cane Toads to our country.  Bad bad move.

Whilst changing over vehicles today we checked out the op shops around the Apollo dealer...couldn't resist and they are so very cool.  Toli is stoked, he got a Melbourne football scarf...just what you need up here. He went to sleep in it...had to spin him out of it before he suffocated. Bells spent half an hour looking through the hand back box....such a little lady but also so very practical. She only bought two purses.

We had an owl roosting and hooting outside our camper tonight....BIG grey fella....running out of words to describe magical, awesome, incredible....certainly was all of those.

So onwards and upwards in our new Betty the Volkswagon!

  1. Red flowers, looks like rosella and is bushtucker if it is. Dainty blue one looks like Linum but hard to see. Worm?on dry soil? maybe snake? Tip of your tongue is sundew - Drosera species - the carnivorous plant. White lipped tree frog? Cane toads are gross, they weren't in Litchfield when we were last there but there were heaps in Katherine.

Boobook owl? we heard them everywhere on our travels, call is very distinctive. If you learn it you can call back to them and they will come in to see who is calling.

I hope things go better with Betty, love your frilly bikini. Was just checking out Jetstars buy one ticket get one free offer to Darwin, right at the top of my list of favourite places.

Get a little birds of the top end ID book, they were really good for finding out what birds you're looking at. You should see heaps in Kakadu.
