Katherine

We arrived late in Katherine last night ....again I was expecting a much bigger metropolis then it is.  Even seemed bigger on the map.  Odd thing here.....there are microphones up and down the main street.  Music plays all day.  I asked one of the shop attendants why music plays and she said "oh yeah, there is music isn't there.  I don't know.  I'm just used to it now".  Makes me wonder if a secret agency is sending subliminal messages....making a secret outback army...or just soothing the outback folk....bit like in some of the middle eastern countries. I wonder if I should suggest to the Bass Coast Shire that we play some PBS or RRR down the main street of San Remo...he he.

Anyway, driving back to our caravan park today and we saw a little sign saying Katherine Hot Springs so I turned old Betty like she was on rails and took the road.  What a delight we found.  No body told us about these...so lovely.

This little sign situated next to the steps leading into the springs says "No Swimming".  Not sure how old it is.

We all went in our clothes...weren't expecting to find this!

We would be swimming in the Low Level River near our campsite as well but they pulled a 4.62 metre crocodile from there two weeks ago....I'm happy to swim in the pool now.
